Uso da homeopatia na odontologia: uma revisão analítica da literatura

A Homeopatia é um sistema médico complexo, baseado na Lei dos Semelhantes. Esse sistema terapêutico pode ser utilizado na prática clínica odontológica em uma gama diversa de tratamentos. Com isso, o presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar de modo crítico a literatura sobre o uso da Homeopatia (HO) na área da Odontologia, buscando avaliar a sua efetividade e em que áreas ela é aplicável. Foi realizada uma busca na base de dados PubMed com os descritores: “Homeopathy”, “Dentistry”, “Oral Health” e as palavras “and” e “or” como ferramentas integrativas de busca. Foram encontrados 264 estudos, dentre os quais foram selecionados uma revisão sistemática e 20 ensaios clínicos. Essa terapêutica mostrou-se aplicável em 8 diferentes áreas da odontologia, seja de modo local ou sistêmico, tais como no manejo da periodontite, xerostomia, estomatite aftosa recorrente, bruxismo noturno e ansiedade/medo no tratamento odontológico. Portanto, a HO é uma terapêutica promissora e que com o avanço das pesquisas poderá ampliar o seu uso dentro da área da Odontologia e ser um aliado na manutenção ou no restabelecimento da saúde bucal.

Abstract
Homeopathy is a complex medical system based on the Law of Similars that can be used in clinical dental practice for a diverse range of treatments. The objective of the present study is to critically analyze the literature on the use of Homeopathy in Dentistry, assess its effectiveness and understand the areas where it is applicable. The research used the PubMed database with the descriptors: “Homeopathy”, “Dentistry”, “Oral Health” and the words “and” and “or” as integrative search tools. This resulted in a total of 264 studies, comprising one systematic review and 20 clinical trials. The research proved this therapy is applicable in 8 different areas of dentistry, either locally or systemically, such as the management of periodontitis, xerostomy, recurrent aphthous stomatitis, nocturnal bruxism and anxiety/fear in dental treatment. Therefore, this study shows that homeopathy is a promising therapy that can become a valuable ally in maintaining or restoring oral health and that, with the advancement of research, there is space to expand its use in dentistry.

La Homeopatía es un sistema médico complejo, basado en la Ley de los Semejantes. Ese sistema terapéutico puede ser utilizado en la práctica clínica odontológica en una diversa variedad de tratamientos. Con ello, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo analizar de modo crítico la literatura sobre el uso de la Homeopatía (HO) en el área de la Odontología, buscando evaluar su efectividad y en que áreas se aplica. Se realizó una búsqueda en la base de datos PubMed con los descriptores: “Homeopathy”, “Dentistry”, “Oral Health” y las palabras “and” y “or” como herramientas integrativas de búsqueda. Fueron encontrados 264 estudios, entre los cuales fueron seleccionados una revisión sistemática y 20 ensayos clínicos. Esa terapéutica se mostró aplicable en 8 distintas áreas de la Odontología, sea de modo local o sistémico, tales como en el tratamiento de la periodontitis, xerostomía, estomatitis aftosa recorrente, bruxismo nocturno y ansiedad/miedo en el tratamiento odontológico. Por lo tanto, la HO es uma terapéutica prometedora y con el avance de las investigaciones podrá ampliar su uso dentro del área de la Odontología y ser un aliado en el mantenimiento o en el restablecimiento de la salud bucodental.
