This study aims to establish a critical analysis regarding the structural construction of
scientific denial at a time when information is accessible to a large part of the
population. To describe the process of social construction of ignorance, Robert N.
Proctor coined in 1995 the term Agnotology. Proctor reflects on the processes of
political and social production and the intentional propagation of ignorance. However,
the objective is to establish an approach to agnotology in the information age, which
relies on the help of social networks. For this research, the qualitative methodology
was used to review the literature of authors who address the issue. Machío (2020)
which deals with the methodology of the Triangle of Ignorance composed of the
producer, the observer and the ignorant. Chalmers (1993) and Kuhn (1998) who
contribute to the understanding of the creation process of Science and the role of
scientific discoveries for society; Feenberg (2010) with questions about the
rationalization of Science and technologies and Teixeira (1998) who complements with
