ABSTRACT
This article aims to bring a brief historical overview of the motivations that resulted in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and, consequently, in actions that triggered the construction of an Education in Human Rights (EDH) in Brazil, with emphasis on its implementation in the Rede Municipal de Ensino de Curitiba. Through Paulo Freire, the text develops from the analysis of official documents and proposes reflection on this formative, educational and dialogical process in the school space. It is realized that, despite the sanction of laws with the purpose of historical reparation of rights violations, Human Rights Education has not yet been consolidated. As a systematic, transversal, and multidimensional process linked to daily life, it is in constant transformation to adjust to contextual demands.
Keywords: Human rights education. School. Paulo Freire.
