Dante Henrique Moura, an Educator

Abstract

PhD in Educational Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, and a professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN), in Natal/RN, Professor Dante Henrique Moura is one of the most important references in teacher training for professional education. He has published important books and articles based on his continuous research in his field of study. In this interview, he shares with us his personal and professional journey, pointing out pertinent issues related to teacher training and professional education. As we talked about his career, we could observe the persistence of research processes regarding the assumptions of dialectical historical materialism, since the needs and challenges of reality have always guided his research. When defending the urgent need for a didactic-political-pedagogical formation for teachers in general and professional education teachers, Professor Dante reminds us of the need to build our awareness as a working class so that, in his own words, “we can see our students as equals”. It is indeed an action that may not sound relevant to many but proves to be crucial in the dark times we are living through.
